If you happen to be in Gainesville this Sunday and would like to hear several authors read their poems and essays, you can come join me with the Writers Alliance of Gainesville (WAG) for a live reading of their pieces published in the latest issue of Bacopa Literary Review, WAG’s annual literary anthology whose latest issue was released in October. Although the event will take place on Sunday, November 8th at 2:30 p.m. at the Millhopper Branch of the Alachua County Library at 3145 NW 43rd Street in Gainesville, FL, it will also be broadcast live online by zoom.
I’ll be reading my essay titled “A Subtle Change in Tone,” a memory from the Christmas holiday last year illustrating how I’ve learned to harness my high sensitivity and my love of nature to cope with difficult childhood memories triggered by the seemingly harmless things people say. At times bittersweet, it also honors the wife and daughter who have helped me through my recent struggles with depression.

WAG is a society of authors, poets, and playwrights centered in my second football-season home of Gainesville, Florida that provides entertaining programming for people who love poetry and literature and resources for local writers. These include free programs on the second Sunday of each month at the Millhopper Branch Library that are open to the public featuring literary and poetry readings and advice for writers. WAG also will host its annual Sunshine State Book Festival at the Santa Fe College Fine Arts Hall on Saturday, January 23rd (which I’ll also be attending and will post more about shortly).
Thank you, WAG!
