I just learned this week that I’ll be joining the Writers Alliance of Gainesville (WAG) next Sunday for a live reading of my next essay, “Baby Bear,” with other authors whose pieces have been published in Bacopa Literary Review. Bacopa, which was released just before Thanksgiving, is the annual literary anthology published by WAG and features fiction and nonfiction essays and poetry. Although the event will take place on Sunday, December 14th at 2:30 p.m. at the Millhopper Branch of the Alachua County Library at 3145 NW 43rd Street in Gainesville, FL, it will also be broadcast live online by zoom.
“Baby Bear” is a nonfiction essay and love letter to my daughter about playing with her when she was a baby (she’s now about to turn 14). It was one of the first essays I wrote about my family, and I’m honored to be able to present it.

WAG is a society of authors, poets, and playwrights centered in my second football-season home of Gainesville, Florida that provides entertaining programming for people who love poetry and literature and resources for local writers. These include free programs on the second Sunday of each month at the Millhopper Branch Library that are open to the public featuring literary and poetry readings and advice for writers. WAG also will host its annual Sunshine State Book Festival at the Santa Fe College Fine Arts Hall on Saturday, January 26th (which I’ll also be attending and will post more about shortly).
Thank you, WAG!
